Journals give students a chance to reflect on their accomplishments and set future goals, as well as issues that have arisen.
#1 : Getting Started
"Val and I had a meeting to discuss the music selection for the senior dance that I will be collectively choreographing with my peers. We researched different remixes of the same song and agreed on what selections would best fit together. She showed me the music editing software she uses every year for the studio’s recital. It is a very tedious and time consume process to add or delete certain sections to or from a song. She said she usually spends several hours on every song she edits."
My dance instructor, Val, was a major inspiration for this project. I have spent many hours at Le Studio Danse learning from her and her enthusiastic passion for dance has truly rubbed off on me. She puts so much time and effort into every recital every year, and I am so grateful to have her as a teacher and mentor.
#2: Fieldwork - First 8 Hours
"A few weeks ago my mentor entrusted me to substitute teach two dance classes that she was unable to attend. I taught one jazz class followed by a junior company class, the company which I was captain of last year. It was very rewarding to see every member’s improvements made in the course of one year. They were very excited to have me as their teacher which is one aspect that contributed to the delivery of two successful dance classes."
This is another opportunity that I have gained through the topic of my Applied Learning Project. This experience was very rewarding as well as enjoyable.
#3 : Fieldwork - Part 2
"With a predetermined schedule, everyone will have plenty of time to make the necessary arrangements in order to attend rehearsals. Even though the process of choreographing has taken longer than expected, I am confident that I will have everything finished and finalized before the recital in June."
I have ran into a few set backs with scheduling rehearsal time that accomodates every one's busy schedules. However, my fellow dancers and I are very passionate and enthusiastic about performing a Senior Dance in this year's recital. With a new firm schedule, I am very confident that everything will be finished in time for the recital.
